This Camden, ME, basement developed a leak that kept the area constantly wet, making it unusable for the homeowner. Wanting to use their basement for storage and laundry without the risk of having their belongings damaged, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems to book a free estimate. System Design Specialist Kathryn Dolan worked with the homeowner to design a waterproofing system that would keep their basement dry all of the time.
The homeowner did not want to cut any corners in keeping their basement dry and their home healthy, so they opted for a WaterGuard system. WaterGuard perimeter drain was installed where needed to collect groundwater and channel it to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe system contains two Zoeller pumps and a battery-powered backup pump in the case of a power outage during a storm. The TripleSafe drains through an Exterior Buried Discharge line that takes the water far from the home and is protected against ice buildup with the installation of IceGuard. CleanSpace Wall System was installed to create a vapor barrier and channel any moisture to the WaterGuard.
The homeowner wanted to protect the air quality in the home, so they chose to go with the Aspen and SaniDry Sedona Bundle. The SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed in their basement to keep humidity levels at a safe level. The SaniDry Sedona drains into the waterproofing system so the homeowner never has to worry about it not running when it needs to. The Aspen Air Purification system was installed in the living area of the home and covers 1500 sq ft, keeping the air clean and helping to eliminate odors. The homeowner is fully protected against water in their basement, and their home is healthier than before. Now they can use their basement however they want without the risk of their belongings being damaged.
Owning a basement without much for waterproofing, this Saint Albans, ME homeowner was tired of finding inches of standing water in their basement. After a quick Google search and a phone call to our office at TC Hafford Basement Systems, this homeowner was set up with a free estimate where they were given details about their options. Once we got the green light to begin work from the homeowner, our crew began by excavating the perimeter of the basement floor. This enabled the installation of WaterGuard piping buried just below the surface of the floor. Next, a SuperSump pump was installed as well as a PVC discharge line with built-in protections on the exterior of the home in the form of an IceGuard pipe segment. Now during heavy rainfall, the WaterGuard piping will capture any leaking moisture and guide it to the sump before it has a chance to gather on the floors surface. The SuperSump will then remove the collected water from the home at a rate over 2,600 gallons per hour. The IceGuard will prevent any blockages in the line from causing a backup in the line by releasing any blocked water through the sides of the pipe.
With these waterproofing solutions in place below their home, this homeowner can now expect a dry basement floor during any rainfall that would have otherwise flooded the space.
This Northport, ME, family home has been dealing with water coming in through a broken slab during rainy days, and the homeowner was ready to take back control of their home. A wet basement leads to mold growth and musty smells, and the home is susceptible to damage and wood rot. The homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Alan Noyes worked with the homeowner, and together they designed a waterproofing that would protect the home and the health of their family.
The slab was beyond repair and needed to be replaced, so the homeowner chose to install a new Slab with WaterGuard. The area was prepped and regraded to create a level surface for the new slab. Drainage Matting was then laid down to create an inorganic barrier for the new slab to rest on, protecting it. The area needed to be waterproofed, so WaterGuard Perimeter Drain was installed to collect and channel water to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe features two Zoeller sumps and a battery-powered backup sump that protect the homeowner during rain events and power outages. The TripleSafe takes the water and pumps it through an Exterior Buried Discharge line. The floor above had a bounce and a slight sag to it, so SmartJacks were installed to stabilize the floor. SmartJacks have the ability to be adjusted after installation, so the homeowner is able to keep their floor stable as the home settles in the future. The basement was fully prepped, and the new slab was poured, leaving the homeowner with a smooth floor. To finish the waterproofing system, a SaniDry Sedona was installed to keep the humidity level in the basement at a safe level, preventing mold growth.
The homeowner is now happy that their family home is protected, healthier than it has been in years, and is able to be passed down through generations.
The owner of this Northport, ME, home had a unique situation in their basement where moisture was coming in from a section of ledge and up through their basement floor. The homeowner wanted to use their basement for storage without the concern of water ruining their belongings. Ready to keep their basement dry all of the time, they reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Kathryn Dolan worked with the homeowner to design a waterproofing system that would fix their basement and help the homeowner reach their goals.
Prepping The Area Before The Slab
The area needed to be prepped and waterproofed before the new slab could be poured. The area had to be clean and regraded so Drainage Matting could be laid down. Drainage Matting acts as an inorganic barrier that will protect the slab and channel groundwater to the sump with it’s dimpled design. Drainage Matting was installed on the ledge area as well to protect the CleanSpace that was installed. CleanSpace is a durable vapor barrier that keeps moisture out of the basement and helps to brighten the area with it’s white finish. WaterGuard was installed around the space to capture groundwater and channel it to the new TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe includes two Zoeller sumps and a battery-powered backup pump to protect the homeowner during a power outage. The TripleSafe is connected to an Exterior Discharge line that takes the water far from the home and where it will no longer cause issues. The last step before pouring the slab was installing SprayFoam around the rim joists and on the walls to insulate the area.
The New Slab
Now that the area was prepped, the slab was poured and smoothed. A SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed to maintain a safe humidity level in the basement. The SaniDry drains directly to the TripleSafe, so the homeowner never needs to empty a bucket. Now that the homeowner's basement is fully waterproofed, the homeowner can use the space for storage without the risk of moisture causing mold or musty smells, and water can’t cause any trouble for the homeowner.
