Foundation Repair in Wichita, KS

Nick noticed a large crack above the door of his mother's house. He called Thrasher to maintain value and make sure his mom was safe in her home. Jon Graves went out to the home to find out what was happening. He found the garage had settled to the outside corner, causing a large crack above the door to open up. To fix this, we installed push piers. But then things got interesting.

When we did the lift, the result was excellent. The crack closed up, and everything looked good. However, the crew left, and when they came back the following day to finish up, they noticed a new crack behind the old crack had opened in a straight line down the mortar joint. This is something that can happen when lifting a home, especially brick. It doesn't happen often, but we always mention to the customer the possibility. Once we noticed the new crack, we instantly checked to ensure there was no settlement, and luckily, we found none. We then sealed the crack and blended the mortar to be less visible. Everything was good as new again!

Nick and his mom were excited that the crack had closed up. They were, at first, concerned about the new crack, but they felt more at ease that we immediately addressed it and fixed the issue. Their garage is stabilized and will not be moving anymore.

Old Barn With a Failing Foundation in Saint Libory, NE

Julie had a barn on her property that had been empty for several years. But she is now ready to fill it with livestock. Unfortunately, she had noticed the northwest corner of the barn was not looking good. Before letting her livestock call this barn home, it was important to her to make the necessary repairs first.

System Design Specialist, Brock Scott, visited the property to get to the root of the problem. He found that the building had a 4 part foundation wall that consisted of footing, a pit wall, a slab on top of the pit wall, and a concrete wall going around the perimeter. The northwest corner was falling away from the rest of the building and was suffering settlement damage. The weight of the concrete on the wall was causing it to break.

To stabilize the settlement, we used helical piers. Helical piers are giant metal screws driven into the soil to stabilize and repair a foundation or lift lighter structures. We then used a carbon armor strap to keep the corner attached to the barn.

Julie was so happy with the completed work and liked how we explained everything to her and informed her of any changes to the original plan.

Humid Crawl Space in Hutchinson, KS

This customer reached out to us because an inspector told him he needed to have his crawlspace looked at when he purchased the house.

When we came out to do an inspection, we found the humidity levels were extremely high due to the exposed soil in his crawlspace. The soil was allowing water vapor to release into the organic wood material in the flooring system above.

To fix this, we installed the CleanSpace Vapor Barrier to protect the crawlspace from releasing moisture and reaching the floors. The vapor barrier isolates the home from the earth, providing a layer of protection for moisture and undesirable humidity that comes with it.
