Cracked foundation of a house in Montreal, Qc

Problem:

Ms. Léger's house is cracked in several places:

- Cracks at the corners of the interior door frames

- Cracks in the foundation

- 1 '' wide horizontal crack on exterior brick wall

- Nearly 2 '' wide vertical crack on the corner of an exterior foundation wall.

- Floor of the second floor is no longer level

The cause of these problems is the sagging foundation of the house. When the foundation sags, cracks on the foundation and walls are created, it can also have a detachment of part of the foundation from the rest of the house.

The solution

Install PushPiers hydraulic pillars under the footing of the house. They can straighten the house slightly, and the weight of the house is supported solidly. Then, some cracks in the foundation were sealed using our FlexiSpan solution. It is a high viscosity polyurethane polymer. The sealant penetrates deeply into the crack to form a flexible and durable seal. CarbonArmor strips were laid on the corner of an exterior foundation wall to reinforce it as it began to pull away from the house. Finally, in order to straighten the main floor and support it, our SmartJack beams were laid.

With these solutions, Mrs. Léger has nothing more to fear as the foundation of her house is supported solidly and the cracks are sealed.

 * Note that the "after" photo was taken before the crack was sealed.

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Pointe St Charles

Mrs.Tramblai noticed the presence of moisture in her Crawl Space. In addition, she wanted to find a solution to prevent cold air from entering her cellar.

Following her call, our crawl space specialist advised her to install a CleanSpace membrane and a drainage mattress to encapsulate the service cellar. In addition, our specialist recommended installing the support pillars which is the best system to lift above floors and walls back to their original position

Following work in her Crawl Space, this resident of Pointe St Charles in Montreal was very satisfied with the results obtained. She can now use her Crawl space as a storage space.

PushPiers in Montreal, Qc

The problem: This client from Montreal was having problems with his foundation that was sagging on a corner of his house. You could see in the picture big cracks and even stair-type cracks.

The solution: First, we excavated all the soil from the corner of the house, up to the footing. Then, we put our PushPiers, to support the foundation. Note that it is possible to straighten the foundation back to its original state, but this depends on several factors and every project is different.

SmartJack pillars for a crawl space in Montreal

The SmartJack system raises and stabilizes beams and floor joists in your crawl space. A specially designed solid backfill base addresses the problem of inadequate foundation soil by transferring the weight of the house to a competent soil layer. Steel columns are secured under the beams or joists of the crawl space. Robust threaded rods allow each SmartJack pole to be adjusted to the desired height. We are very happy to have worked on this project!

Stabilizing a foundation with our push piers system in Montreal, Qc

Problem

Mr. Boerr's building sank into the ground. Several external and internal signs were apparent including cracks on the corners of the doors and windows, in addition to  cracks on the stairs.

Solution

Pile up the building. Our team installed the push piers under the footing to stabilize it and prevent any future subsidence.

Without helical fins, Push Piers can be driven to greater depths without bending, providing support for heavier structures.
