Homeowner Debbie noticed her basement wall was bulging out quite a bit. Scared it would collapse and damage her home, she called Thrasher. That's when we sent System Design Specialist Corey Little out to her home to see what was going on.
After inspection, he determined the wall was in stage 2, almost stage 3, of wall failure with a 2 1/4" deflection. Right on the cusp of what we call extreme wall failure. Corey then took the time to discuss with Debbie what the issue was, why it was happening, and laid out how we can fix it.
Once we decided on a plan, we went back to Debbie's house and used Powerbraces to support the wall. We chose to use Powerbraces because they will help avoid any obstructions on the other side of the wall. On top of that, it'll also help the wall to straighten overtime.
Debbie let us know how relieved she was to hear her problem was fixable and happy she no longer has to worry about it.
This home in Lark Park, IA had deteriorating basement walls that, in addition to bowing and cracking, were also letting cold winter air freely pass through the gaps created by movement over the years, leaving the basement feeling cold and uncomfortable. To return safety and stability to the walls, we used our new EverBrace wall repair system. We also installed SilveoGlo insulation material to keep the cold air out.
This homeowner wanted further protection of her home as she knew the water damage harmed her wall a lot before she utilized our waterproofing solutions. After the waterproofing solutions were completed, she wanted to have us look at her deflecting walls and determine what solutions would be best to combat this problem, so she called us out again.
We sent Service Technician Sam Hogan to inspect the wall, determine what the damage was, and come up with a solution to fix this problem. Sam found that due to hydrostatic pressure on the outside of the wall before waterproofing work was done, the wall had pushed 2 inches inward. While the problem was not progressing any more, the homeowner was determine to have this fixed for her safety, so Sam came for an installation appointment to help the inward moving walls. Sam and one of our installation teams used PowerBraces to stabilize the wall and move it back to its original position over time.
The homeowner was very happy with the results as she knew that her home was stable for the future. Check out the installed PowerBraces!
This homeowner was experiencing problems with her wall failing opposite of the wall she fixed because it was also failing. She knew that she wanted to fix this new wall failure problem before she left the home, so she decided to give us a call. We sent Service Technician Sam Hogan to the homeowner's home to see what the new wall problem was and determine how we could solve this new wall problem. Sam found that like the previous wall we had fixed, this wall opposite of that wall was experiencing wall deflection from the pressure of soil pushing the wall inward. Just like our team had used PowerBraces to fix the previous wall, Sam utilized PowerBraces to fix and stabilize this wall. Annually, Sam will come to tighten the PowerBraces so that the wall is pushed back to its original position. The homeowner was just happy that Sam was able to come out to her home and know exactly what to do. Check out the before and after!
This homeowner didn't want his wall to fall over after he moved, as he was moving next door to where the wall would be his backyard. We had done work for the homeowner in the past, so he decided to give us a call.
We sent System Design Specialist Matt Jacobson to inspect the wall and determine what was causing it to fall as well as how to fix this problem for the homeowner. Matt found that the old wall anchors on his wall were installed years ago and they were failing to support the wall, allowing it to lean. He knew that these older anchors would not be fixable, so he came up with a plan to use new GeoLock Anchors to stabilize the wall over time. Our installation team came out and installed these new anchors quickly so that the wall could start to push back towards its original position.
The homeowner was so impressed with the communication and the cleanup afterwards as well as with the wall straightening within the first month. Check out the new wall anchors on this retaining wall!
